Hughes, Ada May – 73, Windsor, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII. Born April 13, 1938 in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Nina M. (Sibbley) Sanford and step-father, Thoedore Sanford. Ada loved playing cards, doing puzzles, listening to music and going to dances. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch No. 009, Windsor. Ada is survived by sons, Allan, Wilfred, Kenny (Cathy) and Garnet Hughes; daughters, Grace (John) Oickle, Mabel Penny and Rosemary Hughes (Randy Boutilier); sister, Ethel Payzant and sister-in-law, Sheila Sibbley; 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by son, Tony Sanderson and brother, Wilfred Sibbley. Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral and Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 30. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in Digby. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
