It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Gordon Ropson announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, on Monday, September 5th, 2011 at the age of 80 years, leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 52 years; Ida nee Loder, his 5 Sons; Bruce (Karen) of Deer Lake, NL, Ronald (Kim) of Shelburne, Ont, Kirby (Barbara) of LaScie, NL, Maxwell (Dianne) & Craig (Genny) both of Deer Lake, NL, his 8 grandchildren; Amanda, Jeremy, Kevin, Kody, Mason, Brandon, Brittany, & Kendra, 2 great grandchildren; Cyrus, & Kasey. His siblings; Garland (Mae) Ropson of Jackson’s Arm, NL, Baxter (Annie) Ropson of Baie Verte, NL, & Sylvia (Maxwell) Elgar of Hampden, NL. Richard was predeceased by his brother; Gerald in 1994, sister; Martha in 1971, and his parents; father; Fredrick in 1966, & mother; Sarah, nee Cassell, in 1987. Also leaves to mourn a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends. The family will be receiving family and friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, from the hours of 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm today, Wednesday, September 7th, 2011 & continuing on Thursday, September 8th, 2011 from the hours of 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 9th, 2011 at 2 pm from The St. Michaels & All Angels Anglican Church in Deer Lake, with the Canon John Meade officiating with the burial to follow at the Anglican Church section of Wight’s Road, Deer Lake, NL.
