It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rita Steele, 90, on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Bryden) MacIntrye.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Cecil) Smith, Sydney, with whom she resided with for the past five years. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Lindsey and Otis; as well as two sisters, Mrs. Carmella Morrison, Sydney, and Mrs. Cecilia White, Birch Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by husband, Wilfred in 1983, seven brothers, Angus, Jimmy, Leo, Bernie, Peter, Jack and William, two sisters, Sr. M. Dorothea and Mary and by a daughter, Diane.
Funeral mass for the late Mrs. Steele will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Anthony O’Connor officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
A special thank you to Cape Breton County Homemakers who have helped take care of Mom for the past year. Also to the doctors and staff of 4C at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who have taken care of her for the past two weeks.
