We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Yvonne Marie Power on Sept. 7, 2011, at the age of 65. As always she was surrounded by her family, some of which were there in person, others in spiritual support.
She was the daughter of a special lady, Kathleen Cecelia (Yorke) Green whose loving spirit lived on through Yvonne.
Yvonne was predeceased by her mother, her father, Angus Green, her husband, George Vincent Power, her grandparents, Margaret and Anthony Yorke, her husband’s parents and many uncles, aunts and in-laws.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving sons, Edward Vincent Power (Paula) and Richard Anthony Power (Yvonne #2) as well as her sisters, Frances Esther Seastrom (Wayne), Carol Ann Lewis (Brian, deceased), Nancy Greene Lazier (Dave) and brother, John Charles Green (Ina). In her loving arms she always held her grandchildren, Nicole, Johnathan, Edward, Kathryn, Richard, Megan and Amanda. Now she will hold them under her protective wings as she becomes their guardian angel forever.
Yvonne raised her family and when they were grown she worked at the Northside General Hospital for many years making delicious meals for ailing patients and providing little “roses are red” poems for meal trays of family when they were in hospital.
As important as family was and with all the time she spent caring, loving and worrying, she found time to tole paint, cook, knit, and swim. She loved to swim at the pool because it eased her aches and pains but it also provided her with a social network of friends. Her latest accomplishment of being a “computer whiz” made her very proud and she loved the connection it gave her with friends and family.
As the matriarch and Ma of her family she will be sadly missed and loved by all who knew her. If you knew her, rest assured you were loved and are now on her “care list” as she continues to look after everyone.
Visitation for Yvonne will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
