Barbara Harper
HARPER, BARBARA - Barbara Joan Harper, 79, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 4th, 1932, in Saint John, NB, she has called Petitcodiac, NB home for the past 45 years. She was a daughter of the late George and Elsie (Chipman) Stirling. Barbara was a longtime member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church where she faithfully served her Lord through children’s ministries and missions work, and more recently at the Moncton Wesleyan Church. She was also a longtime volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages in Petitcodiac. Barbara’s memory will carry on through her husband of 56 years, Eugene; children Raymond (Janet) of Petitcodiac, Richard (Karen) of High River, AB and Elizabeth Westwell (Bill) of Iqaluit, NU; her grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout Canada; brother Fred Stirling of Saint John; sister Heather Rutherford (Ian) of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Alice Fullerton.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Friday 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held from the Petitcodiac Baptist Church on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Way and Rev. David Woodworth officiating. Interment will be at Fairhaven Cemetery, Moncton. Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
