Eddy Burke, 61, of Murphy’s Lane, Glace Bay, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Lingan, he was the son of the late Michael and Georgina (Seymour) Burke.
Eddy was employed at Highland Fisheries in Glace Bay for several years. He loved to shoot darts and was an avid camper. Eddy loved life, his wife, son, daughter, grandchildren, friends and nature. Spending time in Catalone in the family camper brought him great peace and joy. In his younger years, Eddy enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Eddy is survived by his wife, Sharon (Chiasson) Burke; daughter, Sherry Burke (Joel Mark); son, Michael (Sherry); brother, Michael (Sheila); and two sisters, Kay and Linda, all in Glace Bay. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Raegan, Shelby and Maggie.
Eddy was predeceased by three sisters, Carmella, Frances, Nellie in infancy and a brother, Richard.
Cremation to take place. A funeral service will be held in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. The time and date to be announced.
As an expression of sympathy for Eddy, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
