Yvonne Marie Merritt aged 91 years of Gables Lodge, Amherst, and formerly of Springhill, passed away, Friday, October 9, 2009 in the Lodge. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the Late Andrew and Philomene (Mailett) Breau.



Yvonne was educated in Amherst but spent most of her life residing in Springhill. She was a charter and active member of the CWL; The Springhill Senior Citizens Assoc. and was a member of the Liberal Assoc. She enjoyed bowling and traveling and was a former speed skater.



She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Bonnie (Tom) Chapman, Rothesay, NB; sister, Anne Stewart, Truro; brother Alfred (Helen) Breau, Amherst; two grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn (Christopher) Ross & Robert P. Chapman; great granddaughter, Violet.



She was predeceased by her husband, Percy Patrick "Dutchie" Merritt; sisters, Katherine Feeley, Helen Smith and Jean Goring; brother, James Breau.





Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, NS (902 597 2361). Funeral Mass held 11:00 am Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, with Father David MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. John the Baptist Church, Springhill, gratefully accepted.
