We, the family, regret to announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Aussie at the Northside General Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Alder Point on May 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ella (Bonar) O’Toole.
Aussie was an avid skater and was known for his skill on the ice, as well as on the dance floor. He loved to play cards, go to the casino, watch the Habs and Jays, and most of all, to flirt and torment. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by all.
He is survived by his sisters, Deane Power, Glace Bay, Florence McNeil and Shirley (Clyde) MacQuarrie, both of Alder Point, and Lenore (Barry) MacIntyre, Sydney Mines; brothers, Fr. Ray O’Toole, SFM Hong Kong, and Bobby (Marjorie) O’Toole, Pictou; sister-in-law, Ann Musgrave, North Sydney; many nieces and nephews and nieces, Leann MacIntyre and Kerri Scott, with whom he shared a special bond.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Francis, brothers-in-law, Allison Power and Earl McNeil and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Aussie O’Toole was held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held in St. Anne Church, Alder Point, today (Monday) at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ray O’Toole officiating. A reception will be held in the Alder Point hall, following the mass.
Donations in Aussie’s memory may be made to the Lung Association, or to a charity of one’s choice.
