Catherine Fay Baldwin It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Fay Baldwin, 65 years, of Oxford and formerly of Springhill, announces her passing on Monday, October 12, 2009 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Nappan, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of Muriel (Mooring) Ross, Springhill, and the late Kent Ross.
Catherine was the first female Stationary Engineer in Nova Scotia and was actively involved in various community organizations throughout her life, including; member and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Springhill Centennial Golf Club; Past President of the All Saints Hospital CUPE Local # 2525; member of the Springhill Curling Club and various home dart and card clubs. She enjoyed the outdoors and was well-known for her passion for gardening and for her love of cooking. Most of all, Catherine was dedicated to the love and care of her family and was an inspiration of kindness and compassion to all those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Baldwin; son, Kent (Jennifer) Merlin, Dieppe, NB; daughters, Holly (Donald) Alick, Springhill and Angela (Danny) Best, Amherst; step son, Stephen (Angelia) Fralick, Halifax; grandchildren, Danielle, Josh, Kristen, Deon, Taylor, Mckenzie, great granddaughter, Ava; brothers, Dennis (Sheila) Ross, Five Islands and Ralph Ross, Springhill.
She was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Boss
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Visitation held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Friday, October 16, 2009 in the Funeral Home followed immediately at 2:00 pm by a Celebration of Life Service with Pastor Scott Balser officiating. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of the LA Animal Shelter.
