It is with great sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother Mary Chiasson, Sept. 10, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Mary was born in New Victoria, N.S., to the late Dennis and Molly (Ayre) Hennessey, July 17, 1919.
She loved life to the fullest, dancing , playing cards, and her trips to the casino. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children and all that knew her.
Mary is survived by Phonie (Dorothy) Chiasson, Ontario, Bernadette (Wayne) Muir, New Waterford, Susan (Mike) Odo, Lingan, Paula Chiasson (George), New Victoria, Cheryl (Greg) Desrosiers, NewWaterfrod, Greg (Denise Landry) Chiasson, Vancouver; sisters, Peggy (Henry) Seward, Vancouver, Dolores (Frank) MacNeil, New Victoria; brothers, Gerry (Phil) Hennessey, New Victoria, Dave (Marie) Hennessey, Kentville; daughter-in-law, Annie Mae Chiasson; 13 grandchildren, also 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her extended family of eight years at Fishermen’s Cove, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, (Mary’s angles as we called them).
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph (Swish) Chiasson in 1978, her companion of 11 years, Charlie MacVarish, her daughter, Barbara Hawley, son, Brian (Swish) Chiasson, her sisters, Alice, Francis, and brother, Dennis.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Mary’s life will be held Wednesday Sept. 14, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Luncheon to follow in the Parish hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Cape Breton Regional Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
