Johnena Harrison

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Johnena Grace Harrison, age 90, of Springhill.
Johnena passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Sunday, September 11, 2011.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late John and Lena (Boss) Spence.
In her younger years, she enjoyed going to picnics and dances with her husband and loved listening to country music. She loved spending time with friends, socializing, playing cards and having a nice "cup of tea". Shopping was one of her favorite past-times and in later years she loved watching TV, especially the "Price is Right".
Johnena enjoyed her family most of all, just spending time with them, family gatherings, reminiscing, sharing a laugh as she always had a great sense of humor. She always made everyone feel welcome.
Johnena's greatest pride and joy were her children, 5 boys, who she lived for and raised alone after having lost her beloved husband Chesley "Ches" in the mine disaster of 1958.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her for her tender heart, gentle ways and caring spirit, especially her sons Ken (Joy), Oxford, Jack (Patricia), Leamington, Allie (Dianna), Springhill, Denny (Patti), River Philip, and Elmer (Beverly), Burton, NB. Loved dearly by her 32 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; she treasured each and everyone.
She was predeceased by her husband Chesley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wendesday, September 14, 2011 at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a donation in Johnena's memory may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
A special thank you to the VON Nurses and Home Care workers who were instrumental in her care and well-being and who she truly appreciated and thought most highly of.
