Ben Bacongallo
BACONGALLO, Dr. BEN E. - Dr. Ben E. Bacongallo, 80, of Pointe-du-Chene, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday September 11, 2011. Born in Patnongon, Philippines, he was the son of the late Juan and Ramona (Manzanilla) Bacongallo. Ben was a retired private MD with over 31 years service and attended St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Far Eastern University, Manila, Philippines and did his internship and residency at St. Joseph Hospital and Victoria Hospital in London, ON. One of the original members of the Pointe-du-Chene Marina, Ben enjoyed sailing on his boat, the “Aloha”, gardening and for many years he and Barbara spent their summer months at Ocean Surf Trailer Park and their winters in Florida. He was an avid Oriental cook, enjoyed hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, dancing, music and playing cards. Ben was very family oriented and dearly loved his wife, Barbara, their two daughters and four grandchildren. Ben will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 25 years, Barbara (Broad) Bacongallo; cherished daughters, Chona Coleman (Doug) of Montreal and Goldy Bacongallo (Raymond Kaps) of Moncton; precious grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, Andrew and Nicholas; special nieces, Christine Bacongallo (Matt), Houston, Texas and Angela Bacongallo (Ben Dunstan), Moncton; several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Lily; one brother, Salvador as well as a brother and sister in the Philippines.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Wednesday, September 14, 2011, 1:30 pm, Rev. Allison Carroll officiating. Reception following the Mass. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
