Bowman, Dorothy – 77, Hilden, (Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro) passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro surrounded by her loving family. Born in Middle Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Dunlap) O’Connell. Dorothy worked many years in retail for Margolians and Eatons and later as an office worker for Sun Alliance Insurance. She loved to knit, bowl, golf and dance. Her biscuits and apple pies were favorites for her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an active member of the Hilden United Church and will be fondly remembered as the “pie lady”. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Laurie; daughters, Linda (Bob) Conway, Hilden, Donna Bowman, Bible Hill; sons, Larry (Donna), Onslow Mountain, Jack (Sandra), Shortts Lake; grandchildren, Lisa, D.J., Jennifer, Jeff, Alicia; step grandchildren, Jeremy, Cheyenne; four great grandchildren; two nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald; sister-in-law, Betty. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14th from 7-9 pm; funeral service on Thursday, September 15th at 2 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Ian Harrison officiating. Interment in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
