Hart, Lorraine Brenda — 53, of Lower Vaughans, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011, in the Halifax Infirmary Site, Q.E. II, Halifax. Born on February 6, 1958, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Roy Hart, Windsor and the late Helen Ruth (Church) Levy. Lorraine loved Crescent and Pembroke beaches, driving her car and spending time with her family and friends at gatherings. Her interests included making crafts with nieces and nephews, dressing up for the holidays, decorating, wearing high heel shoes and Reta McNeil hats in her younger years and going to Cape Breton. Lorraine enjoyed doing homecare for several years looking after the elderly and one of her proudest moments in life was to graduate from the PCW course. Her employment at Dykeland Lodge gave her great joy and she was always taking treats to the residents most days on her way into work. She enjoyed wiener roasts out back with her nieces and nephews and was an avid collector. Lorraine loved taking pictures, spending time with her cats Friskie and Willow and her faithful companion the late Kugo. She liked fishing, gardening, going shopping, having sleepovers with Jonathan and Kyle or any available child. Lorraine had a passion for cooking and one could always find her making pickles and jams. Last year she cut the front off her hair with scissors and then requested the help of Arlene’s clippers for the back. She would talk on the telephone leaving all kinds of crazy messages, a habit that boy will we miss. Lorraine’s sense of adventure would allow her to do things like dye her hair never knowing what colour it might be. Besides her father, Lorraine is survived by her brothers, Larry, Lr. Vaughans; Wade (Christine), Lr. Vaughans; sisters, Arlene (Curtis) Spencer, Lr. Vaughans; Elaine (Blaine) Rafuse, Lr. Vaughans; Alanna (Kenneth) Chandler, Falmouth; step-mother, Bernice (Skipper) Hart, Windsor; step-siblings, Ollie Skipper, Donna Sherman and Dwight Skipper; seven nephews, Sheldon Whiting, Taloyoak, Nunavut; Shawn (Mieke) Whiting, St. Croix; Shannon (Nicole) Whiting, Edmonton, Alberta; Mitch Hart, Lr. Vaughans; Andrew Rafuse, Edmonton, Alberta; Kyle Chandler, Falmouth; Jonathan Chandler, Falmouth; and two nieces, Shilo (Geoff) Spencer, Lr. Vaughans; Emma Boudreau, Falmouth; special friend, Chris Sanford. Besides her mother, Helen; she was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Annie Church; paternal grandparents, Freeman and Elva (Wile) Hart; step-father, John “Clair” Levy; brother-in-law, Bobby Whiting; sister-in-law, Jennifer Hart. Cremation has taken place and visitation was 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor.
