Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life of the late Christene Marguerite MacLeod. Christene passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
It is difficult to sum up a life, but the words that come to mind that were important to Christene are family, music, friends, laughter and service to her community and church.
Christene was organist for the Middle River Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church and a member of many organizations such as the AMS Society, Middle River Fire Ladies Auxiliary, CGIT and seniors’ club of Middle River.
She was a Past Worthy Matron of Victorian Chapter #19 and was appointed by the Worthy Grand Matron to the office of Assistant Grand Organist for 2011 for the Order of the Eastern Star for Nova Scotia and P.E.I.
She is survived by her children, Helen (Bruce) Thistle, Fred MacLeod, Charles (Annette) MacLeod, Carl (Cheryl) MacLeod; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Craig, Jillian, Scott, Grace, Sandy and Haley. She will be missed by her companion, Charles MacRae; as well as many friends, especially those who sing with the Middle River choir.
She was predeceased by her son, Ronald MacLeod in 2003 and her husband, Bussie MacLeod in 2009, as well as brother, John and parents, Ruby and Murray MacLeod.
Cremation has taken place and a service will occur Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, in Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Middle River, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Louis Ihasz and Rev. Cameron Brett officiating.
Family flowers only. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory may do so to the Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice.
All are welcome to the Middle River Community Hall after the service for tea.
