OLSEN, HAROLD W. - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold William Olsen at his residence in Otter Lake, NB on September 12th, 2011. He was the son of the late Henry Olsen of Maces Bay, NB and Doris Olsen of Clover Hill, NB. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Duplisea) Olsen, his sons Doug (Jill Porter) of Saint John, NB, and John (Lori) of Summerville, NB, his daughter Heather of Saint John, his daughter-in-law Brenda (Darryl) of Saint John, NB, his children’s mother, Judy Olsen of Saint John, NB, his step-daughters Pam Defazio (Randy) of Saint John, NB and Michelle Chandler (Blaine) of PEI, his step-son Tony Moore (Julie) of Saint John, NB, twelve grandsons and two granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother Ronald (Melody Cole) of Saint John, NB, his sisters Judy Montague (Edward) of Golden Grove, NB, Kathy Ellis (Wendell) of Hampton, NB and Tammy Olsen of Saint John, NB, his sister-in-law Helen Duplisea of Willow Grove, NB, Karen Campbell (David Hamilton) of Norton, NB, Debbie Sherwood (Neil) of Upham, NB, brothers-in-law Joseph Duplisea (Catherine) of Willow Grove, NB, Bill Duplisea (Francis) of Mt. Middleton, NB, James Duplisea of Saint John, NB, Bob Duplisea (Judy) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB and Robert Steele of Saint John, NB as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Harold was also predeceased by his son, Darryl (Brenda) of Saint John, NB and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Murray and Bernice Duplisea of Willow Grove, NB. Harold retired after a forty-two year career as the manager of the Saint John Catholic Cemeteries. He graciously volunteered to return to the Catholic Cemetery office after the unexpected death of his son Darryl, who he had proudly seen follow in his footsteps as the manager. Harold was a loyal and true friend to all who knew him. He was an incredible source of information and knowledge on virtually any subject or issue for which family or friend needed help with. He had great love for his motorcycle and love for his family was unending and he thoroughly enjoyed any occasion that involved bringing his family together.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, 646-2424, with visiting on Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, September 16th, 2011 from St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street, at 12:00 PM. Interment to take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
