Genevieve Lewis, a long time resident of Campbell’s Hill, Cape Breton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
She was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Ryba) Henrich.
She was a member of Holy Rosary parish and a life member of the parish C.W.L. Prior to her marriage, Jenny was employed at the general office, Sydney Steel and the Department of Transport. She especially enjoyed travelling with her family. Jenny was very active in volunteer work for Heart & Stroke, Cancer and various charities.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Merrill; daughter, Cheryl (Hector) MacSween; sons, Graham (Donna), Gerald (Rosemary), all of Point Edward; brother, Stan (Kay) of Campbell’s Hill; her eight beloved grandchildren, Colin (Sarita), Gregory, Ainslie (Dan), Jeffery, Laura, Jocelyn, Liam, Scott and her great-granddaughter, Sophia Genevieve MacLean.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Charles and Edward and sisters, Minnie and Helen.
There will be no visitation for the late Mrs. Lewis. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at Holy Rosary Church with Rev. Doug Murphy officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Westmount.
Donations may be made to the C.B. Hospital Cancer Centre, Palliative Care Society or a charity of choice.
