Lorna Meryl Steele (nee: King) of Moose Jaw, came to rest at peace after a long and courageous battle with cancer at Moose Jaw Union Hospital Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the age of 79 years. Lorna was born on a farm in Parkbeg, SK, August 6, 1930. She was predeceased by son Gordon in 2006; three brothers: George in 1953, Richard in 1970 and Herbert in 2009; her daughter-in-law Gaylene Steele in 2005 and one grandson Travis in 2006. She is survived by her daughter Judy Blair - Moose Jaw, SK and son David (Karen) - Fort St. John, B.C.; five grandchildren: Shannon (Danny) Koch – Balgonie, SK, Michael Blair- Weyburn, SK, Julia (Andrew) Martin - Vancouver, B.C., Marcia Steele - Vancouver, B.C., Janelle Steele - Abbotsford, B.C. and three great-grandchildren: Brynne, Logan and Kayli, one sister Shirley Allen – Regina, SK, one sister-in-law Lila King – Outlook, SK and two brothers: Garnet (Daphne) King – Honeymoon, B.C. and Roy (Diana) King – Victoria, B.C. Lorna will be sadly missed for the love, joy and understanding she brought to her family and friends throughout the years. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Della Ferguson officiating. Internment will take place at Chaplin Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening (October 16); 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lorna's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2.
