It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Lucy Bailey on October 13, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of Theresa (Gaulton) and the late Chester Webb. Lucy worked at the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre in Sydney for many years and the Pharmasave drugstore. She was involved in harness racing with her husband Kevin and son Gregory. Many evenings she and Kevin could be found socializing with the local horsemen at Tim Horton’s.
She is survived by her loving mother, Theresa (Gaulton) Webb; her adoring husband, Kevin; beloved son, Gregory; loving sisters, Celina ‘Minnie’ Gottwald, Donna (Bill) Durdle, both of New Waterford; brothers, Gordie (Wanda) Webb, Belleville, ON, Ronnie (Tina) Webb, Petawawa, ON; father and mother-in-law, Len (Colleen), Mira; sisters- -in-law, Nancy (Donald) Pastuck, River Ryan, Charlene (Robert) Villa, New Waterford; special pet cat ‘Pugsly’, niece and best friend, Kim Gottwald, along with many nieces and nephews and numerous good friends.
Besides her father, Chester Webb Sr. she was also predeceased by her brother, Chester Jr. and mother-in-law, Dorothy Bailey; brother-in-law John ‘Gooks’ Gottwald.
Visitation for the late Lucy Bailey will take place today (Thursday) Oct. 15, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford (862-7500). A funeral mass celebrating Lucy’s life will take on Friday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at The Parish Church Of Saint Leonard’s, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately following the funeral mass in the parish hall, 310 Convent St., New Waterford, all are welcomed to attend.
