Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre, Edward Carson Thorne, age 89 years. Carson was an entertainer during the war being proficient in playing the drums which he did until he was well into his fifties. Predeceased by brothers: Lloyd, Bert and Fred; sisters: Verne Hemmens and Margaret Rodgers; grandson: Wade Thorne. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Shirley (nee Bugden); son, Randy (Debbie); daughter, Deborah Hiscock (Ray); two grandchildren: Wayne and Wanda Thorne; sister, Grace Luby; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.; on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 -12 noon. Funeral service on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Anglican Cathedral. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
