Cormier
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 of John “Alfred” Cormier of Summerside, P.E.I. aged 85 years. Alfred was born on June 15, 1926 in Waterford, P.E.I. to his late parents Claude and Geneva (nee Jones) Cormier. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Stewart) Cormier and loving father of Gary (Judy) of B.C., Anne (Garth) Wood of Travellers Rest, Laurena (Brian) Taylor, Allison (Pauline), Merlin (Kate) Paul and Terrance all of Summerside, Alfreda (David) Gonzalez of ON., Jean Cormier of ON. and Sheila Cahill (Jason Simmonds) of Kensington. Also lovingly remembered by 26 grandchildren including his special grandson A.J. Cahill, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by brothers and sisters: Florence Mearns of ON., Victor (Bernadette) of Halifax, N.S., Genevieve (George) McAlduff of Waterford and Stanley O’Brien of Tignish. Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his first wife Eva Perry, daughters Joanne Rayner and Donna White, son Carl and another son in infancy and brother Raymond. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, Sept. 17, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Alfred’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hours by personal request.
