Georgina Winifred (Pearo) MacFarlane, 70, of Cole Harbour, passed away Sept. 12, 2011, at Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Alder Point, ‘Ena’ was the daughter of the late Gus and Susan (Bungay) Pearo.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Robert MacFarlane and her brother, Donald, in infancy.
Survived by her children, William (Cindy) Pearo, Alder Point, Rebecca MacFarlane, Cole Harbour, and Scott (Dominique) MacFarlane, Saskatoon, Sask.; sisters, Barbara (Roger) Chinn, Dorothy (Billy) Arsenault; brothers, Michael Pearo and Brian (Marita) Pearo; sister-in-law, Catherine Harrison; granddaughters, Angela and Lori; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Bella.
Mom was an Elder and active member of Calvin United Church, Lawrencetown. She was a member of the Dartmouth Red Hat Society and greatly enjoyed her time with the other recycled teenagers. Mom was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, friend and nurse. Mom worked as an LPN/CNA for many years. She trained as a CNA at Camp Hill Hospital, graduating in 1962. She then worked at several hospitals across Canada finally ending up at Halifax County Regional Rehab Centre from 1980 to 1997.
After her retirement she became bored very quickly and decided to work casual at the Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building, QEII and the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building all located in Halifax. Mom was well known for her cooking and baking skills, she enjoyed preparing meals that she would donate to Margaret’s House in Dartmouth. Mom loved helping prepare for the various fundraising dinners and bake sales at Calvin United Church. Mom enjoyed camping and spending time with those she loved.
Funeral service will be held at Wilson United Church, Florence, Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. with burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
