Robert “John†Tanton passed away Tuesday October 13, 2009. John was born to Robert and Eileen Tanton August 6, 1944 in Leysdown, England, Isle of Sheppey. They moved to Canada when he was 2 years old. John spent his childhood years in Penticton and Edmonton. He studied Instrumentation at Nait and went on to enjoy a successful career. For several years he was an instructor at SIAST in Moose Jaw. Later he was employed by Consumers Co-operative Refineries in Regina. He retired in 2004 and continued to lead an active life. John loved to travel, whether it was a trip to Europe, a road trip, or simply a trip to the slurpee store. He had a soft spot for all animals, especially his horse Arthur in earlier years, and more recently his most cherished cat LuLu. John had always been up for a round of golf, a hand of bridge, or a game of poker. He leaves to mourn his wife Norma; two daughters and three grandsons: Lesley (Jeff) Borrowman and son Adam of Calgary, Michelle (Keith) Randall and their two sons Donovan and Justin of Ponoka, AB; one sister Barbara (Bob) Gilbert and their two daughters Jessica and Krista of Fort McMurray, AB; and one brother Stephen (Elaine) Tanton of Calgary, AB. There will be a private family celebration of John’s life. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917 Albert St., Regina, SK, S4P 9Z9.
