Rita Swartz, 91, a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Harbourstone.
Born in Deschaillons, Que., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Christine (Paris) Chretien.
Rita was a member of the Temple Sons of Israel. An active member of any organization she joined, Rita belonged to the Hadassah Wizo and the Sister Hood.
Alongside her husband, the late Charles Swartz, Rita managed the Castle Court Restaurant Ltd.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two sons, Alan and his wife, Susan (MacAdam), Halifax, and Donald and his wife, Elaine (Eddy), Coxheath; grandsons, Breton, Liam and Brandon (Patricia), Halifax; granddaughter, Alanna, Halifax; nieces and nephews in Montreal.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, Charles, two sisters and one brother.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Friday 1:30 p.m., with Rabbi David Ellis officiating. Interment in the Hebrew Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
