Carl Dobson

DOBSON, CARL WILLIAM - It is with great sorrow and relief that we announce the death of Carl Dobson of Hampton, husband of Lynn (Leahy) Dobson. Carl passed away on September 19th, 2011 at the Sussex Health Center, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Carl was born in Saint John son of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Greenlaw) Dobson. He entered the Air Force after completing Vocational School. Carl was the youngest commissioned officer in the RCAF at that time. After leaving the RCAF, Carl met Lynn, the love of his life at G.E.Barbour Company and they married on October 20th, 1962. Carl worked for the Province of New Brunswick for 35 years, both at the New Brunswick Housing Corporation and at the Emergency Measures Organization. He became Building Inspector for the Town of Hampton after retirement. Carl was well known for his devilish wit, lively sense of humor and the ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He devoted much time to community service over the years. He as a Cub Scout leader, a member of the Corinthian Lodge, The Hampton Rotary Club, the Hampton Soccer Association and most recently of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (an excuse to get together with his best friends Chuck and Ed). He is survived by his wife Lynn, daughter Susan, Hampton; son, Andrew, Rothesay; three granddaughters, Kadie Lynn, Kellen Grace and Kyleigh Rachael; his sister, Dorothy Miles of Langley, BC; several nieces and nephews. Carl was the president and cheer captain of his granddaughter’s fan club. His family was the light of his life. Carl is predeceased by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Rachael (Smith) Dobson.
Carl’s wishes were to be celebrated in life, and in keeping with his wishes, a private graveside service will be held for family and friends. Donations to Animal Rescue League or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), Hampton, NB.
