Hannah Frances (Hayman) Baggs peacefully left a life well lived on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at the Cove Guest Home in Sydney.
Born in Fox Island, Nfld., on Aug. 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace Hayman. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines
In 1942, Hannah immigrated to Nova Scotia and resided in the Halifax/Dartmouth area until coming to Cape Breton in 1974. As a young woman, she was employed in the Halifax area during the war, and later worked in retail in Dartmouth.
She is survived by her only daughter, Wanda (Don) Shepherd, Sydney Mines; two loving grandchildren, Greg (Margaret), California, and Catherine (Rob), North Sydney and one very special great-grandson, Samuel, California. She is also survived by sisters, Amelia and Hilda, both of Newfoundland and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, James; sisters, Bertha, Olive and Rose and brothers, Benjamin and Samuel.
Visitation for Hannah Frances Baggs will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. A reception will be held in Grandy Hall after the service. The burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Anglican Church Building Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.
