It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving mother, Mary McIntyre. Mary passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born on August 19, 1914 in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Mary (Kehoe) Walker. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines and a member of the C.W.L. for more than 50 years. Mary will be remembered as a kind, gentle woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed having family and friends, old and new, around the kitchen table for a home cooked meal and a friendly card game.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Brian, at home, Eugene (Wendy), Coxheath and three daughters, Myrna Caume, Reserve Mines, Denyse (Marty) Walsh, New Hampshire, Betty (Blaine) Swan, Truro; 18 cherished grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Jean (Cliff) Carpenter, Ottawa and Anita McQueen, Reserve Mines.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William ‘Jeweller’; son-in-law, Eric; brothers, John, Danny, Tommy, Eddie, Ambrose; sisters, Ella, Margaret, Florence and Sadie.
Visitation for Mary will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with Mary’s Godson, Fr. Robert Hector McNeil, officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
