STELLARTON – Dorothy Violet Rae, 82 of Stellarton, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Lillian (Munsie) Smith.
Dorothy was a resident of New Glasgow and Stellarton for most of her life and was a former employee of Bagnell’s Dry Cleaners and Laundry. She was a member and Head Deaconess of the New Glasgow Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by son, David Allan Works, Stellarton; daughter Helen (Al) Smith, Westville; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Works, Stellarton; brothers: John Smith, Westville Road; George Smith, Sandis, BC; Clarence Smith, Stellarton; a sister, Gloria Adair, Grande Prairie, AB.
She was predeceased by a son, Billy Works; a daughter, Judith Ann Clarke; brothers, Bill Smith, Eugene Smith, one in infancy and a sister, Kathyrn Lays.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the New Glasgow Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Jonathan Martin assisted by Elder Laurie Mosher officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cemetery.
