In his 96th year, William (Bill) Legge of Cole Harbour (formerly Westmount, C.B.) peacefully passed away October 15, 2009 at the home of his daughter Veronica, with whom he resided.
Bill lived a very full life and was fortunate his health allowed him to continue to be able to enjoy his many interests and hobbies. Bill loved to write and tell stories, and his interests included fishing, woodworking, gardening, rug hooking, and watching both the Blue Jays and the Leafs. Some of his favorite moments included the time spent visiting with his family and close friends, including his friends at Campbell's Cole Harbour Senior Club where he thoroughly enjoyed the card games. His annual fishing trips to NL were a particular highlight in his life. Bill mainly worked as manager with Fred Pierce Ltd. in Glace Bay.
Born in Heart's Delight, NL, he was the Son of Charles and Emma (Harnum) Legge. He is survived by his daughter, Veronica (Pat) Woodrow, Cole Harbour; son, Ross (Sally), Truro; brothers, Albert (Gladys) Legge, Sydney; four grandchildren, Leanne Morrison, Halifax, Adam Morrison, Calgary, Ian (Kim) Legge, Mt. Uniacke and Steven (Sherry) Legge, Ottawa and five great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Christie Mae (Campbell); brothers, Arthur and James and sister, Mary (Clements).
Visitation will be held Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home Monday Oct. 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jay Guptill will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or charity of choice. Burial will be held 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 in Forest Haven Cemetery, Sydney, Cape Breton.
