Mrs. Valerie Ray, aged 61 passed away at her daughter's home on September 14, 2011 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Prince Rupert and moved to Kamloops as a teenager. Houston was home for 35 years where she was the office manager at Total Physiotherapy. She was an enthusiastic gardener, seamstress and golfer. But above all else, she was a mother who loved her children deeply.

She is survived by her husband Arthur Ray; daughters Katherine Ray from Port Coquitlam, BC, and Shirley Erchinger from Union City, CA; brothers Arthur Houchen, Gary Houchen and Olie Houchen.

Her Memorial will be held at the Community Centre in Houston, BC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 with burial services at the Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops, BC on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
