BROWNE, LORI DAWN - 1971-2011 - It is with great sadness that the family of Lori Dawn (Hanna) Browne announces her death at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday morning, September 24, 2011, at the age of 40, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Lori will be lovingly missed by her husband, Geoffrey Browne; parents, Tom and Marilyn Hanna; sister, Lisa(Mike) Knowles; brother, Matthew (Julie) Hanna; nephews, Justin Dickson and Christopher Knowles; niece, Aleesha Hanna; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends - in Miramichi and across the country to Vancouver, in the USA, England and Europe. Lori grew up in Napan and attended Chatham schools. Following her graduation from James M. Hill High School in 1989, she attended the University of Kings College in Halifax where she met her husband, Geoff. After working in Halifax briefly, they moved to Vancouver to pursue their successful careers. When Lori’s illness was diagnosed in the fall of 2009 she received treatment at BC Cancer Agency and in January of this year she transferred to Toronto to enable her to participate in a clinical trial at the Princess Margaret Hospital. In August, at her request, she and Geoff returned to the Miramichi to be surrounded by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, on Monday, September 26, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate it if local donations are made to the Palliative Unit of the Miramichi Regional Hospital while donations from outside the Miramichi area may be made to the BC Cancer Foundationor Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
