Date de naissance : 6 juin 1917

Lieu de décès : Sydney Mines, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 24 septembre 2011

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Mary Marinelli, on Sept. 24, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital with her family at her side.
Born and raised on Purves Street, North Sydney, Mary was the daughter of the late Roderick and Bernadette Bryden.
In recent years she resided in North Sydney at Enriched Housing and then at the Northside Community Guest Home. Her married life was enjoyed on Atlantic Street, Sydney Mines.
During her lifetime Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, North Sydney and St. Pius X, Sydney Mines, and took great comfort from her faith.
Mom loved her family and was very proud of their accomplishments. She was an avid speed skater and enjoyed telling about racing on the harbour, winning medals and skating on opening night at the ‘old’ North Sydney Forum — she dreamed of lacing up one more time to skate at the new forum. She was also a star softball player and reminded us often that the team travelled in the back of an open truck to get to the games. She loved the ocean and its view and spent many days with her children and grandchildren on Florence and Indian beaches. She took great pride in her homemaking skills and was an accomplished seamstress.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Marina O’Connor and grandchildren, David/Julie (John Honshorst)/Mark (Tammy) and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Riley; son, Carl (Nadia) and grandchildren, Bryden and Colin; daughter, Rita (Jimmie) and grandchildren, Eric and Charlie; sister, Rita (Alex) MacDougall; brother, Owen Bryden and sister-in-law; Toni Marinelli, many nieces, nephews and family friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Louie Marinelli (2000), first husband, Merino DiPersio (1943), son-in-law, Russell O’Connor and brother, John.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Dr. Bill MacDonald for his care over the years and to the staff of fifth floor at the Northside General Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Mom and her family this past week.
Few words can express the appreciation from Mom and her family to the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home and Enriched Housing for watching over her these past few years.
Visitation for Mary Marinelli will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass celebrating her life will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St.Pius X Catholic Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. The burial take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
If you choose, donations may be made to The Northside Community Guest Home Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
Words of comfort may be sent to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome@ns.aliantzinc.ca.
May God bless and thanks mom, for the memories.
