GERTRIDGE, Gwendolyn Catherine – 83, of Gaspereau, Kings County, formerly of Parrsboro, Cumberland County passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Clenneth and Gertrude (Fraser) Brown. She was a loving mother, housewife, homemaker and friend. She is survived by four daughters, Jo-Ann (Anthony) Billo, Chicago; Janice (Mark) Hatt, Port Williams; Karen (Dennis) Wittenberg, Gaspereau; Jennifer (Mike) Davidson, Gaspereau; two sons, James (Roxanne), PEI; Jeffrey (Wendy), Kentville; one sister, Aleta, Dartmouth; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Blaine Starr Gertridge; a sister, Delores; two brothers, Floyd and Chris. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. A private family graveside service was held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 in the Gaspereau Cemetery, Kings County, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A public reception followed at the home of Karen and Dennis Wittenberg – 3101 Black River Road. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
