SIMONSON - Pearl Simonson, age 97 of Swift Current passed away September 20, 2011 at the Prairie Pioneers Lodge. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Ed Hedlin and Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld. The Ushers were Tammy Schwartz and Chrissy Dumont. The Pallbearers were Lyle Simonson, Greg Targerson, Orville Stormyn, Clay Schwartz, Lon Schwartz and Wayne Sabine. The interment service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Pearl was born November 28, 1913 at the family farm in the Neidpath District. She worked as a day supervision worker for Social Services in Swift Current from 1968 until 1978 and retired at the age of 65. Pearl loved to embroider and do other crafts. She also enjoyed games, especially floor hockey and dancing and visiting with friends. Pearl became a resident of the Prairie Pioneers Lodge in 1978. Pearl walked many miles selling tickets to raise money for the Pioneers Lodge. She was a kind, loving and appreciative person. She loved her family and liked to come to the farm. She had many friends over the years and enjoyed them all. She enjoyed the Lodge, and they and her family will all miss her very much. Pearl is survived by one niece Shirley (Cecil) Schwartz and family and one nephew Sherman (Doreen) Lyngstad and family. She was predeceased by her father Zack Simonson, mother Mattie Simonson, three sisters Cora Lyngstad, Murriel Simonson at age 12 and Ruth Simonson at age 3; two brothers Ross Rhody and Carmen Simonson.
