BLOIS, C. Alberta — 90, of Falmouth (formerly of Windsor), Hants County, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 16, 2011 in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on March 17, 1921 in South Rawdon, she was a daughter of the late Frank Raymond and Nellie Alberta (Smith) Dimock. Married to John Mason Blois in 1945, she was a homemaker for all of her married life and then attended Miss Murphy's Business College in 1973. Alberta worked at The Windsor Elms from 1974 until her retirement at age 65. She then fulfilled a dream of hers and began attending classes at Acadia University. She was an avid gardener and knitted afghans for her children and grandchildren. Alberta enjoyed nature, especially birds and wildflowers. She instilled her love of reading in all of her children and kept a daily journal for 40 years. Alberta kept active by walking daily and living a healthy lifestyle. She was Nana to many grandchildren and great grandchildren who knew they could go straight for her freezer for some of Nana's homemade, frozen cookies whenever they visited. She is survived by her sister, Pearl (Rev. Donald McClare), Wolfville; her four daughters, Barbara Haines, Windsor; Phyllis (Jeff) Tutty, Hunts Point; Pauline Blois, Windsor; Maxine (Gary) Demmings, Ellershouse; nine grandchildren, Jackie Haines; Sandy Haines; John (Sarah) Tutty; Beth (Anthony) Bernard; Jennifer (JR) Beals; Jill (Jason) Hudgins; Brian (Dr. Erin) Demmings; Laura Demmings (Everett Porter); Sarah Demmings; thirteen great grandchildren, Heidi, Jeremy, Naomi, Dylan, Miranda, Candace, Tyrell, Jalisa, Hannah, Brenton, Anna, Alexander, Audrey and one expected; two step-great grandchildren, Skyler and Zoe; great great grandchild, Kayden. Besides her parents, Alberta was predeceased by her husband John (1969); brothers, Flight Sgt. Arthur E. Dimock (1944); Harris R. Dimock (1976). Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral and Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). Honouring Alberta's wishes, there was a private family committal service in South Rawdon Baptist Cemetery, Rev. Debra Mosher officiated. To celebrate Alberta's life, the family welcomed all who knew her at Windsor Elms Village Hall, 174 Dyke Rd., in Falmouth at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 for a time of refreshment and reflection.
