Gerard X. MacKenzie
Although words cannot express our gratitude, we, the family of Gerard X. MacKenzie, publicly acknowledge our appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the kind support shown to us during the loss of Gerard: a dear husband, an outstanding father, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. A special thanks to all who visited the funeral home, sent food, cards, e-mails, flowers, enrollments, and memorial donations; to all those who travelled from out of town, thank you. We also wish to express our thanks to Gerard’s staff at Gerard X. MacKenzie Law Inc. for their friendship and support. The large turnout at the funeral home and at the celebratory mass was a true testament to the high regard in which Gerard was held. We thank Fr. Edwards, Fr. Crispo, Fr. McDow, Fr. Oliver, and Fr. Sandy MacNeil for making the mass to celebrate Gerard’s life so very special. We also wish to acknowledge the organist and choirs of St. Theresa’s and of Immaculate Heart for the lovely music provided. Thanks to the pallbearers: Adrian MacNeil, Darren Morgan, Kevin Chant, Neil Hooper, Peter Bren, Hector MacKenzie, Peter Bren Jr., and Elmer Syms. To the readers: brother, Joe; nephew, Francis; and sister-in-law, Sheila; to the offertory presenters: sister, Mary and sister-in-law, Meryl, and to the Eucharistic Ministers: sister, Anne; sister-in-law Lorene, and friend Stan Reppa, thank you. Special thanks to Dr. Debbie Gowan for the individual attention she gave Gerard and also to the physicians, and nurses for their care and professionalism. We are grateful to the Cape Breton Barristers Society members who attended the wake and for the special tribute to Gerard by their participation in an honor guard at the church service. We also wish to express our gratitude to our dear friends who oversaw the lunch at the Ashby Legion following the mass. To all who took the time to share with us in our monumental loss, thank you and God bless.
“Your golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest, God broke
Our hearts to prove to us – He only takes the best”
Forever loved and always in our hearts, wife Mary; children, Breanne and Christopher, the MacKenzie and MacNeil families.
