MELMERBY BEACH - Charles “Chuck” Michael Kowalski, 70, of Melmerby Beach, passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, September 29, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 28, 1941 in Stellarton, he was a son of the late John and Lillian (Johnston) Kowalski of Stellarton.
Papa was known for his strong work ethic and positive attitude, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was employed by Michelin Tire and the family of Chesley Fraser. He was always ready for a round of golf at Linacy Greens. Along with golf he enjoyed many sports, playing slow pitch with the Melmerby Magpies, curling at the Stellar Curling club, and an avid hockey fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and the Weeks Jr. A Crushers. Most of all he enjoyed his family and many close friends.
He is survived by his wife Faye (Harris) Kowalski, Melmerby; daughter: Karen (Glenn) Moore, New Glasgow; son: Kevin (Lana) Kowalski, Trenton. “Papa” is also survived by grandchildren: Nicholas and Lindsay Moore and Erik and Shawn Kowalski, also a great-grandson, Ethan Moore; brothers, John (Elaine) and Jim (Judy) Kowalski, and sister, Linda; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday in Little Harbour Presbyterian Church, Little Harbour with Rev. Joanne Vines officiating. Burial will be in the Church Brook Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to The Lodge that Gives, VON, or Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.
