It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alexandria ‘Lex’ (McLellan) Bilton on Oct. 2, 2011 in her 97th year.
Lex was the daughter of the late Jennie McLellan. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Sara and Ronald McLellan.
Upon graduation from Glace Bay High School, Lex was employed at the Town Hall and Bay Motors and later, the Cape Breton Bus & Tram Co. She resided in Quebec where she was employed by Ingersoll Rand retiring in 1978. Lex returned to Glace Bay in 1985 to be with her dear Aunt Christine. Lex was a lover of cats and provided a loving home and care for many up to present time.
Lex will be remembered by her cousin, Theresa LeCointe, many friends, especially, Virginia McDonald.
Lex will be sorely missed by her longtime friend and guardian, Florence Breski, faithful caregivers, Cheryl and Patty MacDonald and friends, Myrna Semaka and Bruce Cody.
Lex was predeceased by her immediate family, including her husband, Frederick Bilton of Sherbrooke, Que.
In honoring Lex’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer.
