Stephen (Steve) Sherman, 73, formerly of Sydney, N.S., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at North York General Hospital in Toronto, Ont.
Beloved husband of Helen (née Goora); loving father and father-in-law of Jonathan and Elda and Denise Sherman and Yakov Feig. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Marvin and Cameille and the late Gerald Sherman. Devoted grandfather of Joshua, Anna, Samantha and Leah.
Steve’s funeral was held at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel in Toronto on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2012, with interment at Holy Blossom Temple Section of Pardes Shalom Cemetery.
Steve was the owner and operator of the William Sherman Men’s Wear clothing store on Charlotte Street in Sydney for many years. During his life, Steve was involved with many charitable and religious institutions, including having served as a former president of Temple Sons of Israel synagogue in Sydney and as a former vice-president of the Rotary Club of Sydney.
