Kathleen Loretta Beers
Beers, Kathleen Loretta “Kaye” - 88 – Truro and formerly of 23 Coupar Terrace, Bible Hill passed away peacefully October 6, 2011 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care after a long battle with Alzheimers and other medical problems. Born March 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Effie Dawson. Kaye graduated from Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow in 1943 with her RN in Nursing. She nursed in the Truro Hospital for several years and also worked as a public health nurse for three years. In 1953, she took up hairdressing training in Moncton, NB where she obtained her master hairdressing license for both men and women hair styling. She was an adherent of Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro. Kaye loved animals, especially dogs, flowers and working in the garden. She enjoyed camping and belonged to the Hub Campers. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Gerald; sons, Donald, Toronto and Ervin, Halifax; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley and Eileen, both of Toronto; brothers, Donald, Toronto, William, Truro; special niece, Sharon Loughead; nephew, Gary Dawson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Calvin Lively; brother, Allan Dawson. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9th from 1:30 pm until time of the funeral service at 2:30 pm with Rev. John Beers and Rev. Kaj Binderup officiating in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society or the SPCA.
