SMITH: Beth Nadine Smith (Miller) was born on December 29, 1924 in Elrose, SK, the second daughter of Earl Jay and Edna May Miller. She married Donald Buhr of Langham, SK. and they had three sons - Jay, Chris and Dean. She was soon left a widow - she supported her young family as a school teacher for several years, before remarrying Jack Smith of Swift Current, SK and gaining a daughter Suzanne. Beth faced many challenges in her life, and met them all with courage and grace, she was a cancer survivor for over twenty years. She never complained. She was a life-time member of the First United Church, and was active in the U.C.W. She was also a former member of The Eastern Star. She passed away September 30, 2011, at the Swift Current Care Centre. Beth was predeceased by husbands Donald and Jack, sister Rita, son Chris, and grandson Jay. She is survived by sister Jean, step-daughter Suzanne, sons Jay and Dean, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchidren. A memorial service took place on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M., from the First United Church, with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. The interment service followed at the Mount Pleasant Burial Park Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Memorial Donations in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
