It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, June Marie Attwood, 77, on Oct. 6, 2011, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Josephine (Ranson) McPhee.
June was a member of St. Leonard’s parish, a lifetime member of ANAF unit 217, and a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She was a homemaker and her past times included bingo, playing cards and spending time in her garden. Her favourite times were spent with her family sharing her cooking, baking and gardening tips.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her ‘kids’ Linda (Joe), Tommy (Isabel), Ricky (Tenie), all of New Waterford, Jody (Helen), Glace Bay; grandchildren, Tommy Jr., Amy Lynn, Jamie, Louise, Gus, Wilfie, Lauren, Melissa, Samantha, Jerimy, Bradyn; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Henry) Burns, Oromocto, N.B.; brother-in-law, Jim Burns, New Waterford; sisters-in-law Gina McPhee, New Waterford and Ada (Joe) MacInnis, Glace Bay; numerous nieces and nephews; loyal companions, her dogs, Molly and Riley.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred, son, Robert, sisters, Margaret MacMullin, Thelma Boutilier, Theresa Petrie, Veronica Whiting, Dolena Burns, brothers, Donald ‘Buddy,’ Wilfred, James ‘Jimmy’ and Bernard, several brothers and sisters-in-law.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for June will be held Monday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce unit 217, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Don’t think of her as gone away
Her journey’s just begun

Just think of her as resting, from the sorrows and the tears

How nothing but our sadness, can really pass away
And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
Like she always said “it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.”
