WILLIAMS, John Henry – 1921-2008. It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Henry Williams announce his passing at the L.A. Miller Centre on December 10, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by his sisters Margaret and Winnie, and wife Nellie. Left with fond and loving memories are his son Jeremy (Candice) and adored grandchild Dillon; daughters: Beverley Janes (Colin), Bernice and Betty, all of St. John’s. Also leaving to mourn sister Catherine and brothers Roy and Ged, along with many dearly loved special nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving visitors at Carnell’s Funeral home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, December 11 from 7 to 9 p.m and Friday, December 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Further visitation on Sunday, December 14 in Pool’s Cove, Fortune Bay. Funeral service to follow on Monday, December 15 at the MacDermott Memorial United Church, Pool’s Cove. He sailed for 70 years because of his love of the sea. John was the oldest person in Canada to hold a valid marine ticket, of which he was very proud.rn
