TADMAN – Lena Theresa
October 6, 1926 – October 18, 2009
Our beloved Lena gently passed away during her reciting of the Rosary on Sunday afternoon. Lena was predeceased by her parents Sabina and Joseph Platko; Sister Agnes; her first husband Roy Eric Soderlund and her second husband Samuel Tadman. She is survived by her daughter Diane Branton; her sons Derek Tadman and Benjamin Tadman; her granddaughter Bridget Branton (Nick); her sisters Else (Ron) Lalonde and Margaret (Larry) Silampaa, as well as many nieces and nephews. Lena was born on a farm north of Krydor and grew up near Davis. Lena and her siblings often reminisced about sled trips during snowy winters from the family farm to Sunday mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. As a youngster, in addition to her farm chores she managed to get the best grades in school and also sang at church. As a young adult she worked at the hospital before marrying and raising her children. As a homemaker Lena wrote her own lyrics and music, sang with the Sweet Adelines, and was a member of the Kinettes. Lena was very active with the creation of the P.A. arts council and also the Prince Albert Community Players, serving as actor, director and even president of the club over many years. Lena finally brought together her love of children with her passionate appreciation for the arts and her astute business sense to establish “Lee’s Creative Workshop.” This was a daycare like no other at the time where children’s days were spent learning music, art, drama, and other educational excursions. Towards Lena’s later years she volunteered with Pine View Home watching over her own mother Sabina and her uncle John as well as others she met there. St. Joseph’s Church became her home away from home where she spent much of her time in philanthropy, adoration, readings at mass, as a minister of the Eucharist as well as many other services. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Private Family Interment will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
