It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Arabel Annie MacKenzie, 90, at the Northside General Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009.
Arabel was born July 27, 1919, at Bras d’Or West, the daughter of the late Murdock and Katherine (Ross) MacFarlane.
Arabel was a lifelong resident of Ross Ferry, and a member of Drummond Memorial United Church, Ross Ferry. She was delighted to be honoured this year, along with three other Boularderie residents, at a 90th birthday party hosted by the Ross Ferry Stewardship Society.
Arabel is survived by her daughter, Marguerite (George) MacAskill, Ross Ferry; granddaughter, Jennifer (Sheldon) Daisley, Ross Ferry; grandson, Alan (Glenda) MacAskill, Boularderie East; sister, Maria Shaw, Fredericton, N.B.; brothers-in-law, Fraser MacKenzie, North Sydney, Rindress (Gavina) MacKenzie, Boularderie East; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arabel was predeceased by her husband, Hector MacKenzie, sisters, Mandella MacKenzie and Martha MacGregor, brothers-in-law, Alexander, Raymond and Christopher; sisters-in-law, Mary Crowdis and Ruth MacFarlane.
Visitation for Arabel MacKenzie will take place Friday, Oct. 23 at Drummond Memorial United Church, Ross Ferry, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
