It is with regret that we announce the passing of Bill Steele on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Harold and Beulah (Ivey) Steele.
Bill was employed with Marine Atlantic as a steward until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his granddaughters, making model cars and planes, listening to music and gardening.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy (Gardiner); sons, Russell (Chantelle), Toronto, Robert, Sydney Mines; sister, Catherine (Donnie) Harris, North Sydney; granddaughters, Caitlyn and Alicia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Annabell and Joseph Gardiner, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be (today) Thursday, Oct. 22 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at the funeral home chapel with Fr. Douglas Murphy officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.
