Barbara Winsor
WINSOR, BARBARA ANN TOWNSEND - 1947-2011 - With sadness her family announces the death of Barbara Ann Townsend Winsor on September 29, 2011 in Berstett, France. Barbara spent her childhood in Norton, New Brunswick and was a graduate of Sussex Composite High School. She attended Neuchatel Junior College, McGill University and Queens University before she completed her doctorate at Strasbourg University in France. At the time of her death, she was a director of research in Molecular and Cell Biology at University of Strasbourg. During two and a half years of treatments for cancer, she displayed great courage and continued to work. Her colleagues have been inspired by her warm personality, sense of humour, strength of character and keen scientific intellect. When not working, she took great delight in time spent with her family and friends and was a keen sailor, skier, and bridge player. Barbara was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. A. L. Winsor. She is survived by her husband, Maurice Goeldner of Berstett, France, and her three children, Celia Goeldner, Basel, Switzerland, Jessica Goeldner, Adelaide, Australia, and Stephan Goeldner, Berstett, France. She is also survived by her brother, Hugh (Christina Cameron) of Ottawa, and sisters, Margaret (Bill Jones), Fredericton, Elizabeth, Toronto, and Pamela, Lethbridge, Alberta as well as her nieces, nephew, and their families.
Funeral service and burial occurred in Berstett, France on October 4, 2011.
