We are saddened to announce the death of Vaughn Gilbert, age 84, of Athol, on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Vaughn passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Berwick, NS, he was a son of the late Ernest and Georgie (Wood) Gilbert.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Viola Elizabeth Dow; sons, Stephen (Nadine) and Kenneth, both of Upper Nappan, Phillip (Joyce), Maccan and Gary (Wanda) of Athol; daughters, Judy (Darrell) Ward of Athol and Sharon (Kenneth) Boudreau of Amherst; brother, Elmer Gilbert, Amherst; sister, Lois Moore, Parrsboro; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by granddaughters, Sandra and Holly; brothers, Murray and Lawson and a sister Ethel.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777) where visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Sunday. Funeral service will be held from the Funeral Home on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 2 pm with Pastor Jamie Grooms officiating. Burial in Athol Cemetery, Cumb. Co., N. S.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Vaughn's memory may be made to CRHCC Palliative Care or charity of choice.
