Today a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great–grandmother and friend, Edith passed away. Words cannot expressed our grief at the time but mom’s devotion and strength will continue to help us mend our broken hearts.
Born in Francois, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Roseanna (Dollimount) Fudge.
Mom was a long-standing member of the ACW at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Louisbourg. She loved her family first and foremost but was a great friend and confidante to many. While Edith’s home was in Louisbourg, her heart always lingered in Newfoundland.
Edith is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Leo Carter Sr.; her children, Gladys (John) Manasco, Alabama, Leo Jr. (Sharon), Gary (Elaine), Tommy (Louise), Lorraine all of Louisbourg; her sister, Caroline (Don) MacIntyre, Hills Rd.; brother, Benny (Dora) Fudge, Louisbourg and aunts, Marie Fudge and Winnie Barter whom she considered a sister, both of Louisbourg. Edith will also be great missed by her grandchildren, Philip (Brandi), Larry, Sheila, Jonathon Monasco, Laurie (John) Goyetche, Jennifer Carter (Tyler), Deanna (Adam) Whynott, Craig (Natalie) Carter, Melanie Carter (Jeff) , Leigh Ann Carter (Sean), Mitchell Carter, as well as her great grandchildren, Jaden, Kayla, Emma, Bria and Tanner, along with many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased her brothers, Wallace in infancy, Harold (Rita) Fudge; her three uncles, whom she considered her brothers, George Barter, Sam (Minnie) Dollimount, Nathan Fudge.
Visitation will be held (today) Friday October 14, 2011 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Louisbourg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 15, 2011 at St. Bartholomew’s Church with Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Interment to follow in church cemetery
Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, CBRH in mom’s memory.
