With great sadness, we announce the passing of Margaret Rose (Maggie) Penney, on October 11, 2011. Maggie was born in Grand Falls in 1961, and lived in St. John’s, Toronto, and finally in Manuels, Conception Bay South. She leaves to mourn her parents, Margaret Penney and Ches Penney (Iris); her siblings: Jill (Bob), Chris (Anne), Gail (Jim), Dan (Barbara), Chesley (Tamara), and Joe (Connie), and their children, Maggie’s nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Jill, Dylan, Jackson, Julia, Diana, Charlotte, Grace, Cecilia, Anna, Sophie, Emily, Sarah, and Chesley; her step-mother Kristine Penney and half-sisters Hayley and Chelsea, her step-brother Grayson Ewing, her good friend, Rod White, and her canine boys, Charlie and Sam. Also many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Maggie was an artist, a gardener, and a devoted animal lover. She was a ‘rescuer’ and often joked that the Guardian Angel of strays knew her address. Her kind-heartedness and gentleness were an inspiration to her family. She now rests in peace at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, with visitation Friday, October 14th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, October 15th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A private family service will follow. Cremation has taken place. Donations in Maggie’s memory may be directed to the SPCA or the Canadian Mental Health Association-Newfoundland and Labrador.
